About Stephanie Leahey
Stephanie Leahey is a dressage trainer who recently moved from Tryon, NC to The Plains, VA area. She is a USDF Silver Medal FEI Dressage Trainer and works with all levels of horses and riders.
Stephanie has been riding since she was eight years old when she began pursuing her equestrian dreams riding at Great Falls Equestrian Center in Great Falls, Virginia in the Hunter/Jumper, English Pleasure Divisions in Virginia. At the age of eleven, Stephanie became a working student at Great Falls Equestrian Center where she worked her entire summers and spent time working after school to pay for her lessons. Stephanie started riding Dressage in the early 1990's and began working with Kathleen Raine and David Wightman, owners of Adventure Farms in Murietta, CA in 1997. She has traveled on numerous occasions to California to train with both Kathleen and David and has also brought Kathleen in for clinics on a monthly to bi-monthly basis.
Stephanie enjoys working with clients who purchase their first horse and who want to excel in the Dressage Division. She loves for her clients to set goals for themselves as riders and strives to see her clients succeed and improve along with their horses. Stephanie's style of training focuses on the basics of dressage, emphasizing relaxation between both rider and horse; working towards suppleness and a forward thinking horse. Stephanie prepares her clients and their horses for competition and makes sure that both client and horse are ready and understand the show and warm up ring.
